GP Earnings

All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.  The average pay for GPs working in Dronfield Medical Centre in the last financial year was £112,287 before tax and national insurance. This is for 2 full time GPs and 7 part time GPs and 0 locum who worked in the practice for more than six months.

It should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earning is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice, and should not be used to form any judgment about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other practice.

We would also like to explain that these figures are based on a full time average working week of 48 hours. Two GPS work 48+ hours per week, (classed as 'full time'). Three of our GPs work between 36-40 hours per week, two GPs work 33 hours per week, one GP works 27.5 hours per week and one GP works 22 hours per week, (all classed as 'part time' even though 5 work above or near a 'normal' 37 hour working week)
